The goalkeeper, who turns 21 today, was released from the group on Friday afternoon, 48 hours before Iceland's final Group J game in Skopje.

Arnar Viðarsson's side went on to lose 3-1 at the Philip II Arena; a pair of late Elif Elmas goals helping condemn the ten-men to a fifth defeat of the campaign and send the hosts through to the Play-Off round.

Iceland finish qualifying fifth in Group J, with nine points from their ten matches.

Up until Sunday's match, Patrik had been named in Iceland's previous six competitive matchday squads as he waits for his senior debut. The goalkeeper, currently on loan in the Norweigan Eliteserien with Viking Stavanger, does have 12 Under-21 caps to his name.

Since moving to Norway on loan, Patrik has made four appearances for Viking. His last outing, against Mjondalen, saw him save a penalty and keep his first clean of the campaign.
