Born on the Gold Coast, Australia, highly-rated A-League referee Jarred Gillett emigrated to England in 2019 to study at Liverpool John Moore’s University, specialising in research on children with Cerebral Palsy, going on to make his EFL officiating debut in April of that same year.

Part of the Select Group 2 Referee’s list for the 2019/20 season, Gillett was one of the most high profile officials in his home country, refereeing in the A-League from 2010 to 2019. Whilst Down Under, he refereed five A-League Grand Finals and the 2018 FFA Cup Final.

He also hit more international prominence when he was mic'd up for his final A-League game in March 2019.

The four-time Hyundai A-League Referee of the Year has also officiated in the J-League, the Indian Super League, the Chinese Super League and the Saudi Professional League and at the 2015 International Champions Cup.

Both of Gillett's previous Brentford games have resulted in home wins over AFC Bournemouth. He took charge of last December's 2-1 Sky Bet Championship victory and then returned to take the 3-1 Play-Off Semi-Final victory in May.

Gillett made history in September becoming the first overseas official to referee a Premier League match when he took charge of Watford vs Newcastle United.

That is one of six games the 35-year-old has officiated so far this season, showing 16 yellow cards and one red in total.
