Frank Onyeka and Nigeria face crunch week in Qualifying

Decisive matches against Liberia and Cape Verde ahead for Super Eagles

3 November 2021

Nigeria's 2022 FIFA World Cup hopes rest on the next fortnight with their final two Group C matches coming up.

Frank Onyeka has been named in Gernot Rohr's squad for the games against Liberia and Cape Verde which will decide if they make it through to the CAF Third Qualifying Round.

The Super Eagles currently lead Group C by two points with two to play. First up, there is a trip to the Stade Ibn Batouta, Tangiers, to take on bottom-placed Liberia on Saturday 13 November, kick-off 4pm. Then comes the potentiallly winner-takes-all clash with second-placed Cape Verde in Lagos on Tuesday 16 November, kick-off 4pm.

Should Nigeria retain their spot at the top of the table they will join the other nine group winners in heading through to the Third Round to play off for Africa's five spaces at Qatar 2022.

Frank has three caps for his nation. He made his debut in a friendly against Algeria last October before playing every minute of The Super Eagles' double-header against Central African Republic last month.

For The Bees, Frank has featured in 12 of our 13 competitive games, starting eight of them, since joining from FC Midtjylland in the summer.
