Brentford FC were represented at an event to discuss how football can move from LGBTQ+ allyship to action. London clubs, the FA, the Premier League, and fan groups came together at Stamford Bridge last month to look at how we can all tackle homophobic, biphobic and transphobic (HBT) hate. Brentford FC staff and fans from our LGBeeT group were in attendance.

During the event hosted by Clare Balding, panellists and an audience of supporters and senior stakeholders from across football discussed the fan perspective on LGBTQ+ allyship. The event heard a commitment from the Premier League to bring clubs, leagues, supporter groups and governing bodies together before January 2022 to share best practice on tackling hate and discrimination in football. The FA for its part agreed to work with Pride in Football, the network of LGBTQ+ fan groups, to support the formation of LGBTQ+ fan groups in the women’s game.

Gemma Teale, from our LGBeeT group, said: "It was great to get so many amazing people in one room for the first time in a long time, with brilliant speakers and some really important conversations. We need to keep those conversations going, we'd love to see this every year moving forward, to help clubs and fans from around London collaborate and learn together."
