Bees close in on leaders with another win

Third win in a row for Women's B Team

18 November 2021

The B team have moved level on points with second place Queen’s Park Rangers Women Reserves in the Greater London Womens Football League Division One North after a solid win over East London Ladies. The Beed dominated the game throughout and finished with a 4-0 win. They are still in third place in the table, but only on goal difference.

Head Coach Will Blithing was very pleased with the results and is very optimistic about the rest of the season. He said: “We had a really good game, we set up a clear game plan and the girls followed it really well. We adapted quickly to some forced changes due to injury and went on to show a dominant performance and claim another three points to keep us in the title race.”

Brentford set the tone very early in the game as they took the lead after nine minutes through Kasey Clifford. Clifford scored direct from a free kick from around 30 yards. The team maintained a threatening presence as Ogechi Anokwuru went close to goal a couple of times to double Brentford lead but the East London keeper was equal to it.

Brentford dominated possession, presenting dangerous moves, but were lacking in the final third in the first half, failing to convert their chances. There was a change at half time as Chloe Logie replaced Ogechi Anokwuru and it had immediate impact. In the 48th minute, Karen Abou-Abdullah put Logie through on goal and Logie slotted home for her first Brentford goal.

After a lovely passing move The Bees added a third goal through Logie again. Rabia Azam played the ball down the line for Logie who skipped away from three East London players and fired across goal. The Bees put the icing on the cake when Logie completed her hat trick in the 67th minute as a run from Eleonora Cottrell beat a few east London players and Logie finished the move.
