Brentford FC Community Sports Trust is launching a new football tournament. The first edition of The Gunnersbury Cup will take place this summer with teams coming from all over the country. There will be a series of events taking place in early August for boys, girls and disability football teams.
The Gunnersbury Cup is open to all age groups from U7 through to U16 (as per 2020/21 season). It will take place at the new Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub, where many Trust sessions are now held. All teams will play a minimum of six matches in a group format before heading into cup or plate competition.
Places are limited to 16 teams for Under-Seven to Under-12 age groups and 12 teams for Under-13 to Under-16. There will be other activities on site such as an inflatable pitch, speed cage and a photographer to capture all the action. See more here or below, including details of an Early Bird price for entries that ends today, Friday 14 May.
The Trust is working with others on a new sports hub in Gunnersbury Park. The hub is a collaboration between Ealing and Hounslow Councils and involves our Trust, University of West London, the London International School and local leisure provider Better. The facilities include two top-level, floodlit 3G artificial pitches, as well as grass pitches, also suitable for rugby and cricket, plus an eight-team changing pavilion; a gym; a studio; and a sports hall, ideal for Futsal. The new sports hub is a just one part of the redevelopment of the park spearheaded by joint owners Ealing and Hounslow Councils.
