Brentford B defender Fin Stevens has been named the winner of the Mary Halder Award for the 2020/21 season.
During Saturday’s Play-Off Semi-Final at The Brentford Community Stadium, the news was announced at half-time that the 18-year-old had been crowned the winner after a fantastic first season with the Club.
Fin was part of Thomas Frank’s match day squad on the day so was unable to accept the award at half-time, but the Club were pleased to welcome Sharon, the daughter of Mary Halder, and her son Robert to the match to be on hand for the award announcement.
The award commemorates former Club employee Mary Halder who worked at Brentford for more than 25 years. The award has been given to Fin for his fantastic attitude, character and professionalism which has seen him go on to turn out five times for the First Team this season, as well as become an integral member for Neil MacFarlane's B Team.
Sharon and Robert were on hand on Saturday for the announcement of Fin as the winner
The award was chosen by the Brentford B staff, and B Team Head Coach Neil MacFarlane believes the award is thoroughly deserved.
He explained: "The award recognises commitment, dedication, and standards. When Fin has been asked to go and perform for the First Team he's done it so well for a player who is still at such a young age. He came in from Worthing and has done fantastically well. We've been really pleased with the way he's adjusted as he's worked with both teams across the campaign. He's doing everything he can to keep himself in top condition so when he's required, at First Team or B Team level, he's able to perform. He thoroughly deserves the award."
