Alex has been named as part of a 26-man squad who will travel to Spain for matches against Switzerland, Australia and Denmark.

The matches form part of the side’s preparations for their 2023 European Championship qualifiers in September, with manager Jim Crawford given the opportunity to work with his side.

First up for The Irish is a match against Switzerland at the Dama de Noche Football Centre in an 11am kick-off on March 30. June 2 will then see them take on Australia in a midday kick-off at the Marbella Football Centre, before they round off their fixtures three days later against Denmark.

The final match against the Danes could see the 19-year-old come up against his fellow Brentford B teammate, Mads Bidstrup.

Alex has been involved with Ireland at youth level in recent seasons, and he earned his first Under-21 call-up back in March this year when the side travelled to take on Wales Under-21s at Colliers Park. That day saw the youngster feature against more of his Brentford teammates as he took on Fin Stevens, Nathan Shepperd and Joe Adams. Ireland won the game that day as they came from behind to claim the friendly victory 2-1.
