Mads Bech Sørensen's performances for Denmark in the ongoing UEFA European Under-21 Championships have been attracting attention. Mads has been part of a Denmark team that has won their first two games. Denmark beat France 1-0 before a 2-0 victory over Iceland in which Mads scored the second goal.
It was Mads' performance in the win over Denmark that saw him featured by UEFA. The tournament organisers selected Mads as one of the top performers in the second round of games. See more here and below.
The Under-21 Championships are taking place in two stages this year. The group stage is being held at the moment in Hungary and Slovenia later this month, with 16 teams competing in four groups of four. The eight teams who reach the knock-out stages will head back to Hungary and Slovenia in late May to decide who takes home the trophy.
Denmark are very close to a place in the last eight. If they avoid defeat against Russia today, Wednesday 31 March, they will top their group. They could even progress with defeat, depending on other results. If they win the group they have a Quarter Final against Germany at the end of May, if they finish second, it will be The Netherlands in the last eight.
