Simon, who joined the young Bees in August 2018 from Halmstad, turned out 34 times for the B team as they toured in the likes of Spain, Portugal and Cyprus in recent seasons, as well as competed in domestic cup competitions.

He made his Brentford B debut in a 1-0 win over SC Freiburg whilst on tour in Switzerland, and he was also part of the side’s first competitive domestic fixture as he helped them to a 4-0 win over CB Hounslow United in the Middlesex FA Senior Challenge Cup in 2018.

The 20-year-old has been involved for Sweden at youth level in recent seasons and will return to his home country to join up with an Elfsborg side who compete in the Allsvenskan- Sweden’s top division.

Elfsborg finished second in their 2020 campaign and are in preparation for their 2021 season which kicks off on April 11 with a match against Djurgården. The side were most recently in action on Saturday in a 2-0 friendly defeat to AIK Fotboll.

Discussing Simon’s departure to Elfsborg, Brentford B Head Coach Neil MacFarlane said: “Simon is somebody that I’ve really enjoyed working with every day. He wants to do well, but he’s had limited opportunities with us recently. I’m thrilled for him that he has got a move to one of the top clubs in Sweden, and hopefully for his development, he can get some game time and kick on.

“The partnership between Simon and Nathan Shepperd over the past year has seen both players push themselves all the time as they worked alongside Jani Viander. He now needs more games which is why he has taken the decision to return to Sweden and we wish him well for the future.”

Simon departs Brentford FC with the Club’s best wishes as he makes the next step in his career.
