Starting in Sky Bet League One, Dom Thompson played 90 minutes for Swindon Town but they fell to a derby defeat against Oxford United at The County Ground. The goals came from Brandon Barker and Dan Agyei for The U’s, before Taylor Curran grabbed a late goal in the final moments for Swindon. The side are 22nd in the league table and are at home to Gillingham on Saturday.

There would also be disappointment for AFC Wimbledon as they were beaten at home to Burton Albion. Michael Bostwick grabbed the only goal of the game just before the hour mark in a match where Jaakko Oksanen played the final seven minutes. The Dons are 23rd in the table and are away at Bristol Rovers this weekend.

In the same division Ellery Balcombe was an unused substitute for Doncaster Rovers as they tasted narrow defeat at the hands of Crewe Alexandra. Michael Mandron scored the game’s only goal on 56 minutes, leaving Rovers fifth in the table, and they host Northampton Town on Saturday.

In Sky Bet League Two Arthur Read was back in the starting XI for Stevenage as they drew 0-0 away at Leyton Orient. He played the full 90 minutes and will hope for more game time at the weekend away at Southend.

Joe Adams was an unused substitute for Grimsby Town as they were denied a victory late on against Carlisle United. Offrande Zanzala scored in the 93rd minute to prevent Town from claiming an important three points. They will host Colchester United this weekend.

None of our overseas players were in action in midweek but there could well be game time this weekend ahead of more fixtures. Patrik Gunnarsson and his Silkeborg side will be looking to keep up their good run away from home at Hobro in the Danish First Division on Saturday.

In Turkey, Galatasaray are away at Kayserispor on Saturday and they will be looking to get back to winning ways after a recent draw and defeat. Halil Dervişoğlu will be hoping for more game time at the weekend. Also in the same country, Kasımpaşa S.K face Konyaspor on Monday- Julian Jeanvier has been missing for a long period through injury.

Joel Valencia’s Legia Warsaw take on Warta Poznan on Saturday and the side are still top of the Ekstraklasa ahead of the match.
