In 2019 Brentford FC Community Sports Trust joined forces with the European Football Development Network (EFDN), UEFA Foundation and six other European football foundations to start delivering the Scoring for Health programme in schools. The Scoring for Health programme encourages children from the ages of seven to 13, and their parents, to adopt a healthy lifestyle and make them aware of the value of eating healthily and being active. One of the drivers behind the programme is the recent work by the World Health Organisation, which finds that obesity in children remains an important public health problem in Europe.

The Trust currently deliver the programme in two schools, St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Chiswick, and St Anselm’s Catholic Primary School in Southall. Both schools now enter the final phase of the programme. And as a reward for completing the programme both schools have been offered the chance to take part in this year’s Gunnersbury Cup, a football tournament hosted at the new Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub.
