The match was their opening game of the UEFA Under-21 Euro 2023 Qualifiers at Stebonheath, and the Welsh were left frustrated having been reduced to ten men on home soil.

Adams carried a lot of the threat going forward for Wales and was denied in the first half on a couple of occasions by goalkeeper Iulian Agachi.

With 20 minutes remaining Wales were reduced to 10 men after Sion Spence picked up a second yellow card for what the referee deemed simulation of contact- despite the youngster having to leave the field via a stretcher.

Joe then had one of Wales’ best chances to win the game towards the end as he latched onto a cross from the right but he could only divert is header against the crossbar as the side took one point from their first match.

The side are next in action in early September when they take on Bulgaria.
