The Bees midfielder played the final five minutes at the Stožice Sports Park as a single Lukas Nmecha goal after 49 minutes proved enough for Stefan Kuntz's side to see off Portugal and claim the crown.

Vitaly featured in four of Germany's six games at the tournament in Hungary and Slovenia, taking his total caps at Under-21 level to ten. It also means that Vitaly's last two weekend's have seen him lift the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final trophy and now the Under-21 European Championship.

At senior level it was also a good evening for Mathias Jensen as he picked up the Man of the Match award after Denmark's 2-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina in Brondby.

Mathias started and provided the assist for Andreas Cornelius' 73rd minute goal that killed off the game after Martin Braithwaite's first-half opener.

The game was Denmark's final ahead of the European Championships which begin with a game against Finland next Saturday in Copenhagen.

The appearance was Mathias' sixth at international level, all of which have come this season.
