Halil Dervişoğlu remained on the bench as Turkey were beaten 3-1 by Switzerland, confirming their elimination from Euro 2020.
Xherdan Shaqiri and Haris Seferovic socred the goals for the Swiss, who produced undoubtedly their best performance of the tournament. Turkey did manage their first goal of the tournament, Irfan Can Kahveci hit a brilliant strike beyond Yann Sommer to briefly give them a lifeline in the match.
Halil Dervişoğlu played two games at Euro 2020, both coming from the bench. In the opener, he got on for the final 15 minutes during a 3-0 defeat to Italy. Halil was booked in that game for a foul on Nicolò Barella in the middle of the field. His next game was another one as sub. Coming on for Kenan Karaman after 75 minutes in a 2-0 loss to Wales, he saw a late shot blocked by Joe Rodon on the edge of the box.
Having been rated as dark horses by many before the campaing, they go home with zero points and a goal difference of minus seven.
Today, Group B and Group C are also set to be completed. In the former, Christian Norgaard and Mathias Jensen need their Denmark side to beat Russia at 8pm this evening if they are to stand a chance of progressing to the knockout stages.
They will also need Belgium to beat Marcus Forss' Finland in the other game of the night if they want to get into second place. Should Finland get points off Roberto Martínez' side, Denmark would still hop into third place on goal difference if they beat Russia.
