Brentford Football Club can confirm the signing of midfield player Dom Jefferies from Salisbury. Dom will join up with Brentford B following a trial period and has signed a one-year contract after completing a medical. There is a Club option for an additional year.
Dom, 19, spent his youth career with Sky Bet League Two side Newport County and worked his way up to become a second-year academy scholar at Rodney Parade. He played six times for Newport’s First Team during the 2019/20 season as he featured in the EFL Trophy before making his Emirates FA Cup debut in their 1-0 win away at Maldon and Tiptree.
He departed South Wales for Salisbury at the end of that season following an earlier short-term loan spell with the Wiltshire side. After joining in the summer of 2020, Dom was able to get some game time in men’s football in the Southern League Premier Division South under his belt before he came on trial with the young Bees in January 2021 when that league was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic with Salisbury unbeaten and in to the top three.
Brentford B Head Coach Neil MacFarlane said: “Dom is someone who has an unbelievable hunger and desire. He is another who will come into us from a non-league environment, and he wants to improve and take his chance. Dom came to us for a lengthy period on trial and he impressed the staff with the way he’s backed himself to come and stay with us for a sustained period of time. That’s really helped him to work his way into the group.
“He’s a tough midfielder who can play a number of different positions; he’s a winner and helps to drive the winning mentality in the group. We’re looking forward to watching him progress during his time with us.
“He’s somebody that will help lead the group and not let any day or opportunity be wasted for himself or for the team which is massive. We have a really good culture at the moment and we’re aiming to continue to add to that.”
