There was game time for Ellery Balcombe on Tuesday night as his Burton Albion side went up against Alfreton Town in pre-season.
It was Town who ran out winners with two goals from Matt Rhead in the first half in a game where Ellery played the full 90. Ellery was kept busy in the first period as he made important saves to deny Bobby Johnson on two occasions before Alfreton went ahead.
A Joe Powell penalty halved the deficit but the League One side were unable to get themselves back into it as they now turn their attentions to a match with Newcastle United at home on Friday.
Aaron Pressley gained another hour of game time as he continues to settle at AFC Wimbledon in pre-season.
The side travelled to take on Woking but they were narrowly beaten by the National League side with Tahvon Campbell’s goal the difference on the night.
Aaron was once again in from the start in a game where The Dons impressed for much of the opening 45 minutes, but they were unable to make their strong start count. Aaron had a good chance to put The Dons in front but he was unable to keep his effort on target after latching onto a cross from Jack Rudoni.
Wimbledon play their final pre-season game against Scunthorpe United on Saturday ahead of their Sky Bet League One opener, and they’ll be looking to get a win under their belts at Plough to take into the new campaign.
