Both players began the night on the bench with Denmark taking a first-half lead through Mikkel Damsgaard's long-range free-kick. Simon Kjaer put through his own net just before the break as nothing separated the sides at the interval.

Christian was introduced for his ninth cap midway through the second-half while Mathias came on to make his 12th international appearance with two minutes of the 90 remaining.

The deciding moment of the tie came moments before the interval in Extra-Time as Raheem Sterling went to ground in the box under pressure from Joakim Mæhle and Jensen. A penalty was awarded; Harry Kane was initially denied from the spot but he tucked away the rebound to send England to a first major final since 1966.

Christian featured in all but one of Denmark's games in their run to the final while Mathias played a part in all of The Danes' six matches.
