At the end of last week, Brentford FC Head Coach Thomas Frank was named Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for December. The Bees played eight Championship games in December and won five of them. The other three were drawn to ensure Brentford were unbeaten through the month and that was enough to earn Thomas, on behalf of the squad, the award.

The Bees picked up 18 points in their eight games, scoring 16 goals and conceding just eight. There were home wins over Reading and AFC Bournemouth, who are in the top six in the table, as well as away victories against Rotherham United, Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City. The Bees also beat Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup Quarter Final.

After being informed he had won the award, Thomas spoke to the Sky Sports' website, on a video call. He described his side's unbeaten month as "incredible" and answered questions on other topics from the ongoing Transfer Window to Brentford's B Team. He also discussed Brentford's Carabao Cup Semi-Final against Tottenham Hotspur, the only game The Bees have lost since the start of October.

Thomas said: "Nine games is the most that a team has played in December for a long, long time and coming out of that spell unbeaten is incredible. I had a meeting with the coaching staff, the performance staff and the medical staff before we went into this busy schedule - which started in the middle of November - where we knew we could play 15 games in a row, Saturday-midweek-Saturday-midweek. So if anything, we needed to be aware of how we made sure there was enough freshness in the team, how we prevented injuries, how we performed under difficult circumstances. We then followed that up every week to try to make sure we nailed it with the small details on and off the pitch - and that went quite well."
