Thomas on recovering from Covid-19 ...

I feel fit and fresh. I was blessed with relatively mild symptoms and after that I was fine. I am ready to go.

Thomas on the training ground shutdown ...

This was a lesson to everyone. We are following the protocols very strictly. Even though our staff, and especially the ones responsible for our Covid practices, and players have done a top job it was still possible for the virus to get in. The last three rounds of testing have all been negative which shows the right thing has been done and it hasn’t spread any further. The players followed simple programmes to keep relatively good fitness but for most of them it was only six days.

Thomas on the racial abuse of Ivan Toney on social media ...

As a Club we stand and say no to racism and embrace diversity. We back Ivan. In a democracy you want people to share different opinions but for some things there is a no tolerance policy. Racism just needs to be taken out.

Thomas on Luton Town ...

We are in a place from where we can hopefully push forward against Luton Town tomorrow night. Training yesterday was sharp, intense, and had good quality. I know that we will be there performance-wise tomorrow night but I am more worried about Luton because I know they are a very underrated team in this division. On their day they can make it difficult for any team because of their style of play. They work hard throughout the team and are very good on set pieces. They want to play, and can play, because they have some quality players but they have no egos. They understand they need to stay in the game for that chance to give them the goal.

Thomas on defensive options ...

You always want to have your best players available and losing one of our best players and our captain is a blow. Pontus Jansson, fully fit, is a top player in this division and a top player for us. The good thing for us is that Mads Bech has developed well this season; every time he has stepped in he has performed. We are very confident he can keep performing. Charlie Goode is back to fitness now so I think we are covered very well in that area.

Thomas on making Saman Ghoddos' move permanent ...

It was always the plan that we wanted to sign Saman Ghoddos on a longer-term deal. We know that he didn’t hit the ground running. He is very ambitious. He knows that he has a higher level and we know that he has a higher level. He has been in a different situation with his football career over the last couple of years which means he hasn’t played that many games. He needs that consistency in terms of training and matches; he is just getting better and better. He played well against Middlesbrough so hopefully he can keep that up.

Thomas on the fixture schedule ...

Before the first Bristol City game that was called off we had 12 games on the bounce and we handled that very well. We have some good experience about working around recovery, training, and rotating the squad. However, we constantly need to assess that and look forward because things change. We don’t know how the accumulation of load, mentally and physically, will affect the players and staff. We adapt on a daily basis.
