14 January 2021

Jaakko Oksanen helped his AFC Wimbledon side into the last eight of the EFL Trophy as they claimed a midweek win over Bristol Rovers.

On their travels they managed to pick up a 1-0 victory over Paul Tisdale's men with Jack Rudoni netting the all-important winner on the hour mark with Jaakko playing the full 90 minutes.

The side are now in the hat for the Quarter-Final draw which takes place on Saturday 23 January.

Other action this week saw West Ham United's Saïd Benrahma feature from the start in the Emirates FA Cup as they claimed a 1-0 win over non-league Stockport County on Monday.

The winner came from Craig Dawson as he headed home from Jared Bowen's cross in the 83rd minute to set themselves up a tie with Doncaster Rovers in the Fourth Round of the competition.

With Said set to come up against Ellery Balcombe in the next round of the Cup competition, Two Bees will also go up against each other this weekend as Ellery's Doncaster travel to Dom Thompson's Swindon Town.

Both players had positive debuts for their clubs last weekend and they will be looking to build on those minutes when they come up against each other at the County Ground in Sky Bet League One.

Doncaster are currently fourth in the table having won four and lost one of their last five league matches, and Swindon will be hoping to climb out of the relegation places with a win.

In Sky Bet League Two Arthur Read was crowned the Stevenage Player of the Month for December after another impressive period at the Lamex Stadium. The award is his second Player of the Month award after being given the prize in October last year. He will look to be part of the side who will be aiming for their third consecutive league win at the weekend as they welcome Tranmere Rovers.

Elsewhere, Patrik Gunnarsson could get his first taste of action for Silkeborg when they play SønderjyskE in a friendly on 20 January, whilst Joel Valencia's Legia Warsaw play Dynamo Kyiv in a friendly on 18 January.

Kasımpaşa S.K.earned themselves a win at the weekend with a 2-1 win over Alanyaspor despite being down to 10-men. The side will face Fenerbahçe in the Round of 16 in the Turkish Cup today, though Julian Jeanvier is currently out injured for the side.
