Brentford B are pleased to announce the signing of goalkeeper Ben Winterbottom on a two-and-a-half-year contract with an option of a further year from Liverpool.
The 19-year-old has been part of the under-23 setup at Anfield and first joined The Reds in March 2019 before signing his first professional contract in July last year.
He began his career with Blackburn Rovers, rising through the ranks before breaking into the under-18 side at Ewood Park prior to his move to Merseyside.
Ben featured frequently for Liverpool Under-18s during the 2019/20 campaign before progressing to the Under-23s where he has worked alongside Caoimhin Kelleher for the number one jersey.
The youngster also trained alongside current Brentford First Team goalkeeper David Raya whilst the pair were at Blackburn together.
On the latest addition to the young Bees’ squad, Brentford B Head Coach Neil MacFarlane said: “Ben comes highly regarded at Liverpool and he is someone who will come in and add increased competition to the B Team group.
“We’re really happy with the goalkeepers that we have at our disposal within the B Team and Ben will add to that. Like all young players, they have a goal to force themselves into First Team training and the First Team squad, which many have this season. Ben is a hugely ambitious person and someone that I took to instantly.
“He’s a very driven lad who suits our style of play, he has terrific distribution and possesses a physical presence. I think the future is bright for him and I’m pleased to add to what is already a fantastic group. The recruitment team have done a fantastic job in bringing in some real characters into the group.”
