Earlier this month, Brentford Football Club First Team Strength and Conditioning Coach, Tom Perryman, shared his knowledge with participants of Brentford FC Community Sports Trust’s weekly webinar programme.

Brentford FC Community Sports Trust have arranged a series of webinars during the current lockdown (Thursdays, 6-7pm), with guest speakers from the Club providing participants - mostly aged between 8 -19 years old from across all the Trust’s projects – with a fantastic opportunity to take notes from those involved in the professional game.

Tom’s appearance on the Strength and Conditioning webinar followed a performance session in January, during which Christian Norgaard and Rabia Azam (Brentford Women’s FC) shared their training and match tips.

Speaking about his involvement in the webinar, Tom said: “It was really enjoyable – the questions were really, really good. I’d never done something like this before so it was a bit nerve-racking!

“Sessions like these are something I never got to experience when I was a young player; by the time I became aware of strength and conditioning it was probably too late in my development. When I look back on my own sports career, I wish I’d had more help with this side of the game. To have the opportunity to help the kids and give a bit back was very rewarding.

“The Community Sports Trust has always had a very positive impact on the local area – it’s been growing and developing alongside the Club. It’s really noticeable that, from the day I first arrived to where I am now, the Trust has been improving every year. It’s brilliant for Brentford and the whole of West London.”

More than 400 participants have engaged with Brentford Community Sports Trust’s online webinars, with First Team star Tariqe Fosu set to appear as part of the Trust’s Diversity and Inclusion webinar this Thursday (6-7pm).
