Thomas on racist abuse of players ...

It hurts me every single time one of my players gets racially abused or discriminated against because we care about the individuals in our club. I really can’t get my head around racism or discrimination in any part. Ivan Toney has a strong mentality and he will get through this; I have no doubt. I speak to Ivan as a manager but more importantly as a person. I support him and the Club support him, I know he feels that. We do everything we can to support him, or any player, when this happens. It is not only the social media companies, but general society need to be very harsh on this subject.

Thomas on the promotion race ...

It is so easy to get dragged away from focusing on now because your mind starts travelling. It is about what you can do today and what you can affect. What we could affect was training well today, preparing well, and doing everything we can to get three points. We are a good team. If those defeats had been after seven games and 17 games nobody would have talked about it. It is the Championship and its fine margins. There is not one team over the last ten years who have not gone two, three, or four games without winning, even the ones who have been promoted.

If we win tomorrow everyone will think we are back on track but if we draw or lose everyone will think we are having a wobble or bottling it. We have 16 games left, 48 points to play for. If you look at all the games we have played this season there’s only Preston and Stoke where we saw things we normally don’t see in this team. The team are so determined; they have learned another experience. We will be fine whether we win, lose, or draw tomorrow. Of course, I would like to win to get back on track, but this is a season that will go right down to the wire, I am not in doubt over that.

Thomas on how to keep focus ...

Stay aware of the basics and stay aware of the main principles. The main thing we talk about is showing that attitude where we are confident but humble. We keep putting that hard work into every session and every game and we keep reinforcing that unique togetherness we have on and off the pitch. Do that and then you get a performance. After that we talk about the unique style of play principles, on and off the ball, and try and reinforce the main parts. These boys are working so hard for each other with an unbelievable determination. It is a joy to be part of and I am enjoying it every single day. Tomorrow we play Coventry, and we would like to get back on track and get three points.

Thomas on Coventry City ...

Every game is a different task with a different style of play we need to handle. They will come out flying and he has said he knows we need to bounce back. Maybe it will be a big clash and we see who stands at the end of the game. We are ready for no matter what they throw at us.
