Thomas on the latest injury news …

Everyone from last game should be available.

Thomas on Bristol City …

Dean Holden has done well in a spell with a lot of injuries. They can be a big threat with a lot of crosses and a lot of players in the box. On their day they can play some top football, but we need to think about ourselves and do everything we can to be bang up there with a top performance. Then, hopefully, we can continue this good run of form. One of our big strengths this season has been, no matter what we have faced, we have come up with solutions. Hopefully we have that again for tomorrow.

Thomas on taking it one game at a time …

We have done fantastic in the last 18 games and been very consistent in what we have been doing. I have one aim which is to maximise everything before tomorrow to put in a top performance physically, mentally, technically, and tactically.  We will do everything we can to get three points then, after that, we will recover well on Thursday, train shortly on Friday, and go to Middlesbrough.

Thomas on Sergi Canos …

We invested a lot of trust and minutes in him. Then he had a couple of games on the bench for a bit of a breather and after that he hit the ground running with some top performances. Cardiff City was the standout performance but in a lot of other games we got these six or seven good actions that you need from your top offensive players. As Sergi was out for a year and then didn’t start too fast, I don’t think people appreciate how good a player he is. In the 0-0 against Wycombe he was bad and he knew that because players are very harsh on themselves. We told him before the weekend to show who he was. He is in a completely different place and I am looking forward to seeing him play tomorrow.

Thomas on the group this year …

We are one year more experienced as a Club and a group. I think our culture has been a bit better but mainly the players are a year older and better. It was Rico Henry’s first full season in the Championship last year and he’s only getting better. Even though Bryan Mbeumo had a top season last year, he is losing less balls this year. Josh Dasilva is a year older and making more, better, decisions and defending better, exactly the same as Mathias Jensen. Ethan Pinnock is a better player this season than last season; he did well last season but is making less mistakes this season. David Raya is a better player than last season. I could name all of them. Pontus Jansson and Christian Norgaard are better leaders than last season. It is also the margins; we lost nine games last year by one goal. Two of them we maybe should have lost, the rest of them, I think, we should have won or at least drawn.

Thomas on Winston Reid …

To me it’s three things; big quality, big personality, and big experience. That is exactly what we need. On top of that he’s in an area where we are low on numbers at this moment in time. With that amount of games, we are one minor injury, one knock, one suspension, one Covid situation from having one centre-back. Winston understands the role; he just has one aim which is to come in to help us and improve us where needed. He has trained twice now and showed us that quality, personality, and experience. He looks fit and ready. He may need a few more weeks to be top but, with his quality and experience, he could play 90 minutes tomorrow if needed.

Thomas on no fans at home games …

The home advantage has been minimised for a lot of teams, it’s the same for us, but I think we have a team that is full of hunger, desire, and ambition for each game. You would prefer to play at home but, no matter where we are playing, we are ready and up for it. We have a point to prove. Confidence will always grow the more we handle different tasks and different oppositions.
