Referee: Gavin Ward

Assistant Referees: Michael George and Graham Kane

Fourth Official: Andy Woolmer

Gavin Ward was appointed to the Select Group 2 list of referees ahead of the 2018/19 season after more than ten years as an EFL referee in League One and League Two.

The Surrey referee took charge of three Brentford games during our 2008/09 promotion season, including the 1-0 win at AFC Bournemouth which saw Darren Powell dismissed for an altercation with Karleigh Osborne. Other memorable Bees assignments include our 3-3 comeback draw against MK Dons in 2011 and our 1-0 win over Preston in March 2013, which saw Sam Saunders convert a last-minute penalty for the three points.

Ward has only taken charge of us four times in the past five years, twice in the 18/19 season and twice in the 19/20 season. There was our 1-1 New Year's Day draw against Norwich City in 2019 and that February's 1-0 home win over Aston Villa.

Last season, he oversaw our 1-0 opening day defeat to Birmingham City and our 3-0 win away at Swansea City.

In total, we have won eight of the 18 matches he has taken us for, drawing a further four.

So far this term, Ward showed 49 yellow cards, and three red cards, in 19 matches across all competitions.
