Brentford lost in the Sky Bet Championship for the first time in four months yesterday but will get a chance to put that right with one of the most eargerly-awaited games of any season. The Bees were beaten 2-0 by Barnsley yesterday afternoon. It ended a 21-game unbeaten run and was only the fourth defeat of the season so far. Next up for The Bees is a game with Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday, 17 February.

The long unbeaten run took The Bees to the upper reached of the Championship and they sit second after defeat yesterday. Brentford are a point behind Norwich City and are four ahead of Swansea City. Watford, in fourth, are six behind The Bees while Cardiff City, in seventh, are 17 back. Swansea have two games in hand on Brentford and Norwich and could go to the top of the table if they win them both.

Brentford will be looking to complete a Sky Bet Championship double over QPR, having won 2-1 in the reverse fixture. Vitaly Janelt put The Bees in front early on but the visitors equalised in the first half. Ivan Toney won the game for Brentford with a second half header. That was the fourth win in a row for The Bees in this fixture and Brentford have had the upper hand in recent contests, the last ten matches between the teams has seen one draw and one QPR victory.

QPR are currently 17th in the table and did not play at the weekend as their game against Rotherham United was postponed due to a frozen pitch. They are only five points clear of Sheffield Wednesday, inside the relegation zone, but are also only seven behind Cardiff. QPR also have games in hand on almost everyone in the division.

QPR have won their last two, away to Watford and at home to Blackburn Rovers. They lost to Derby County prior to that but that was their only league defeat since Boxing Day. They have one loss, and four wins, in their last six. The win over Blackburn was, however, their first since mid-November and they have won four of 13 at home this term.

The match will be, unfortunately, played behind closed doors and will kick-off at 7pm. Fans can tune in on iFollow Brentford to watch.
