Loan Round-Up: Game time for Arthur and Ellery in midweek

The latest details on our loan players

18 February 2021

There was some midweek action for a couple of our players out on loan in the EFL this week ahead of a full fixture schedule in the coming days.

Starting in Sky Bet League Two, Arthur Read was involved for Stevenage as they picked up all three points on the road at Crawley. The midfielder came on to play the final 36 minutes in a game where Stevenage won it on 83 minutes through Elliot Osbourne. They now sit 21st in the league table and host Walsall on Saturday.

In Sky Bet League One, there was game time for Ellery Balcombe as his Doncaster side were beaten 1-0 on home soil by Accrington Stanley. Paul Smyth grabbed the only goal of the game before half-time with his low effort deflecting past the on loan keeper. The side are now fifth in the league table and host Hull City this weekend.

In the same division, there was no game for Dom Thompson or Jaakko Oksanen, with Dom’s Swindon preparing to host Crewe Alexandra on Saturday, whilst Jaakko’s AFC Wimbledon travel to Peterborough United. The Dons have recently appointed Mark Robinson as their new Head Coach.

Joe Adams could also get more League Two action this weekend as he and his Grimsby Town teammates make the long trip to Devon to take on Exeter City at St James Park.

There wasn’t any recent action for our players on loan on foreign soil, but there could well be game time in the coming days. After making his league debut for Silkeborg IF, Patrik Gunnarsson could feature tonight as his side take on Kolding IF in the Danish First Division.

In Poland, Joel Valencia will be aiming for minutes as Legia Warsaw take on Wisła Płock at home on Saturday. Legia are currently second in the Ekstraklasa.

In Turkey, Halil Dervişoğlu and his Galatasaray side will be aiming to cling on to top spot in the Turkish Super Lig when they travel to Alanyaspor. In the same country, Kasımpaşa S.K. will face Fatih Karagümrük S.K. Kasımpaşa are 15th in the league table and have been without Julian Jeanvier for a number of months due to injury.
