It would be yet another win for Ellery Balcombe and his Doncaster teammates as they continued to impress in Sky Bet League One. They sit third in the table following their 3-2 win over Oxford United at the Keepmoat Stadium. The goals came from Jon Taylor, Fejiri Okenabirhie and Taylor Richards which secured their ninth win in 10 league matches. The side are level on points with Hull City, who sit second, and they are three points behind top spot Lincoln. Counting in their favour, the side have three games in hand on Hull whilst they have two in hand on Lincoln. Ellery grabbed another 90 minutes of game time against The U's.

In the same division there would be another full match for Dom Thompson, though he was unable to help prevent defeat at home to Shrewsbury Town. The Shropshire side took the points through a Harry Chapman goal which meant that Swindon slipped back into the relegation spots.

There was a much-needed win for AFC Wimbledon as they claimed a 3-2 away victory at Wigan Athletic. Jaakko Oksanen was an unused substitute in the North-West, but the game was won through Jack Rudoni and two Joe Pigott strikes. They are in action at home to Rochdale next Saturday as they look to make it two wins from two.

In Sky Bet League Two there was a debut for Joe Adams as he played the first 63 minutes against Newport County for Grimsby Town. It was the Welsh side who took the points, though, despite having 10-men when Scot Bennett was sent off. The all-important goal in the 1-0 win came from Nicky Maynard, six minutes after the break. The defeat leaves Town 23rd in the league table, two points from safety.

As for Arthur Read in the same division, he was back in the starting XI for Stevenage as they welcomed Morecambe to The Lamex Stadium. Elliott List got the opener for Stevenage but it was the away side who went into the break with the lead when Toumani Diagouraga and Cole Stockton both found the net. As the game neared it's conclusion it took a final twist as the home side confirmed a 2-2 draw when Luke Norris headed home. Stevenage are now five points clear of the relegation zone and will be aiming to pull further away when they travel to Tranmere on Tuesday night.

On foreign soil, there was a welcome win for Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig as they beat fellow promotion rivals, Fenerbahçe S.K., 1-0 away from home. Mostafa Mohamed got the only goal of the game as Halil Dervişoğlu was an unused substitute. Galatasaray now sit top of the league on goal difference in Turkey, as they are level on points with Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe. In the same division, Kasımpaşa S.K. lost 4-1 at Hatayspor with Julian Jeanvier still missing through injury for the side who sit 14th in the table.

Elsewhere, Legia Warsaw claimed three points in the Ekstraklasa with a a 2-0 victory over Rakow to sit second in the league table. Joel Valencia was an unused substitute on the day.

As for Patrik Gunnarsson and his Silkeborg side, they return to league action on Sunday against Hvidovre.
