In their last game before the mid-season winter break, Brentford FC Women B Team lost to Actonians Reserves 3-0. The game began with Brentford at a disadvantage as the team had four players out with COVID and without a goalkeeper, who was called up to play for the First Team. So they went into the game with 12 players.

Actonians took advantage of this and had a great start to the game, creating a couple of half chances in the opening ten minutes Although overall, the first 20 minutes both teams were finding their feet in the game and it was a bit scrappy. After 25 minutes Actonains scored at the far post from a succession of corners which Brentford failed to clear and the ball was fired into the roof of the net

In response, Brentford started to play a lot better football and kept the ball well creating a few half chances, testing the Actonains keeper twice, with a threatening prescence down either wing. Both teams came out with in the second half searching for the next goal in the game. The game was back and forth until Actionains scored their second. Once they scored, The Bees went searching for a goal and came close through chances with Ogechi Anokwuru and Chloe Logie.

The Bees played fantastic football but couldn’t find the final pass in the attacking third. Actonians had a few half chances but great defending from Connie Malone and Cara Graham kept them at bay. As Brentford chased the game, Actonains capitalised to score a third as another set piece finished off the Bees.

The Bees kept fighting to the final whistle and what a performance they put in with a depleted squad and no goalkeeper. A special mention to Salma Mahamud, Chloe Kaur Boparai and Kasey Clifford who all stood in as goalkeeper at various points in the game.
