Our Principal Partner Hollywoodbets is proud to highlight and reward the great impact of companies and individuals in our local community with the initiative Hollywood Heroes. So far this seson, individuals and companies who worked with our Community Sports Trust have been chosen Hollywood Heroes. We were delighted to welcome Sara Harding to Brentford Community Stadium for the match against Everton last month.

Sara was nominated for her tireless fundraising and community spirit. A television producer and presenter, she has been a Brentford fan since she was 14 and can see Brentford Community Stadium from her flat. The Bees play a big part in her life.

Two years ago, Sara was working for Sir Lenny Henry making music television but was feeling extremely unwell and taken to hospital where she was diagnosed with invasive stage three breast cancer. The team at West Middlesex Hospital saved her life and she has since continued to receive treatment from the hospital.

John Dale, who nominated Sara, said: “She thought not so much about herself as about the community. Having visited West Middlesex Hospital to begin her treatment, she decided to organise a makeover for the waiting room at the breast cancer clinic and set about raising money, rallying people to her cause. At the same time across social media, she shared the details of her story, both the good and the bad, in order to help, inform, inspire and even entertain others going through a similar experience, deploying her big smile, unique personality and talents in and around Brentford, especially among friends in the Magpie, the Weir and the Black Dog.”

Sara has been raising money for the hospital while still undergoing treatment. Funds raised will be used for an enhanced waiting room with comfy seats, as well as improvements to the chemo ward, wigs, hats and care packs. TVs have been donated by Freeview. She has also written a book, My Brilliant Boobs and Other Mistakes, about her breast cancer journey. All extra profits will go the Breast Cancer Team and chemo ward.

The Club would like to thank Sara for her great work while going through a very tough time - she has shown amazing community spirit and resilience. She is a true inspiration and embodies the BeeTogether spirit.

Hollywood Heroes was launched in conjunction with Principal Partner Hollywoodbets to highlight and reward the positive impact of volunteers and individuals in our local community. Hollywoodbets have provided nominees with boardroom hospitality tickets to say ‘thank you’ for all the hard work they have put in. Housing provider A2Dominion and the Hounslow Community Foodbox have also been recognised this season.
