There was game time for three of our players at the weekend during another round of fixtures as the schedule continues to gather pace around the festive season.
Starting in Sky Bet League One, Aaron Pressley was a late substitute in AFC Wimbledon’s dramatic 2-2 draw away from home at Wycombe Wanderers. Jack Rudoni had put The Dons in front after just four minutes before Adebayo Akinfenwa levelled with 16 minutes to play. It seemed as though Wimbledon would snatch the points when Rudoni got his second of the afternoon on 92 minutes, but Joe Jacobson ensured The Chairboys would claim a point when he found the net from the penalty spot in the sixth minute of stoppage time. Wimbledon are now 17th in League One.
In Sky Bet League Two, Alex Gilbert played the final five minutes for Swindon in their 2-0 defeat away at Barrow. The game was won courtesy of two penalties for the home side as Ollie Banks and Josh Gordon converted in the second half. Town were reduced to 10 men in stoppage time as Dion Conroy was sent off for dissent. The side have a full week’s training before hosting Walsall on Saturday.
Up in Scotland it was a difficult afternoon for Jaakko Oksanen and his Greenock Morton teammates as they fell to a 6-1 defeat at home to Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Jaakko played 90 minutes in a game that Inverness dominated in terms of the score line from early on. Morton are bottom of the Scottish Championship and will face Arbroath on Saturday in need of points.
There was a win for Patrik Gunnarsson’s Viking FK as they rounded of their season with a 2-0 victory over Tromso. Patrik wasn’t involved for the side as they confirmed third place in the Eliteserien. As for Ellery Balcombe, his Burton Albion side were beaten 3-1 by Rotherham United, whilst Halil Dervişoğlu’s Galatasaray face Sivasspor later today in Turkey.
