They took on Colchester United and were beaten 2-1 to exit the competition. Luke Chambers netted two goals in quick succession early in the first half to put United in a comfortable position. Town hit back in first half stoppage time but they were unable to get themselves back into the match as they exited the competition. They travel to Walsall in the FA Cup this weekend.

There was also minutes for Jaakko Oksanen in midweek as he featured for Greenock Morton in the Scottish Challenge Cup against Queen of the South. It was ultimately defeat for Jaakko and his side as they fell to a 2-1 loss away from home. A Jack Hamilton own goal put the home side ahead just before the 30-minute mark and they led for a large portion of the game. Alan Lithgow managed to level for Morton on 86 minutes but Queen of the South claimed the win with an 88th minute winner through Ruari Paton. Next up for Greenock Morton is Ayr at home on Saturday.

There is more potential action for our players this weekend in England and abroad. On home soil it’s Emirates FA Cup Second Round weekend as Ellery Balcombe’s Burton Albion host Port Vale whilst Aaron Pressley’s AFC Wimbledon welcome Cheltenham Town to Plough Lane.

On foreign shores, Patrik Gunnarsson’s Viking FK take on Odd in the Eliteserien on Sunday and they currently sit third in the table. In Turkey, Halil Dervişoğlu take on Altay this weekend and they sit eighth in the table.
