Robbie Muirhead put Morton ahead but Inverness levelled just after the break to make it 1-1. The match then went to a shootout which saw Morton progress by winning 5-4. The side face Inverness again this weekend in the Scottish Championship.
In Sky Bet League Two, Alex Gilbert was an unused substitute in midweek as his Swindon Town side lost 4-1 away at Leyton Orient. Aaron Drinan and Harry Smith both netted two goals for Orient whilst Harry McKirdy got on the scoresheet for Town. Swindon will look to bounce back when they head to Barrow this weekend for more league action.
In Sky Bet League One, Ellery Balcombe and Aaron Pressley both missed midweek fixtures for Burton Albion and AFC Wimbledon respectively. Albion were beaten 2-1 away at Wycombe Wanderers and they will look to return to winning ways this weekend when they head to Rotherham United. As for AFC Wimbledon, they travel to Wycombe themselves.
In Norway, Patrik Gunnarsson's Viking FK play their final match of the season when they play Tromso on Sunday. They have already qualified for Europe next season, and though technically they can claim second, they would need to win and would require Molde to lose and they would also have to reverse a goal difference of 10. Nonetheless, it has been a successful campaign for the side and Patrik looks set to feature once again this weekend.
Finally, Halil Dervişoğlu was an unused substitute on Thursday evening as Galatasaray drew 0-0 away from home at Lazio. The side have progressed to the knockout stages of the competition as group winners but they'll now turn their attentions to league action as they head to Sivaspor on Monday.
