Tariqe Fosu has been called in to the provisional Ghana squad for a pair of vital matches next month. The 25-year-old attacking midfield player is part of a Ghana squad to play two qualification matches for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Ghana will play Ethiopia and South Africa as they attempt to secure a place in the tournament, which is being held in Qatar in November and December 2022.

The final squad will be named in the coming weeks, but Tariqe is part of a 30-man group. The final squad will meet on 29 August and will then play Ethiopia at home on Thursday 2 September. Ghana will then travel to South Africa for a match on Sunday 5 September before their players return to their clubs.

Tariqe has earned four caps for his country so far, making his debut last October. He has scored one goal, in a friendly against Qatar. Zimbabwe are also in Ghana’s World Cup qualification group – Group G. Matches will be played this autumn and the group winner will reach the final qualification stage.
