We head to Villa Park this Saturday for our final outing ahead of the season's first international break. Following their opening day defeat to Watford, Dean Smith's Aston Villa have bounced back with a Premier League win over Newcastle United and then Tuesday's 6-0 mauling of Barrow in the EFL Cup. Peter Bankes is beginning his third season in the Select Group 1 of top flight referees, following a five-year rise through the ranks of EFL officials.
The Merseyside official has officiated nine previous Brentford games, stretching back to our 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest in April 2016. Further wins against Eastleigh in the Emirates FA Cup and a home win over Forest in September 2018 followed before his most recent Bees outing saw a late Ollie Watkins goal hand us the points at home to Middlesbrough in February 2020.
Bankes is yet to take a domestic game this term, his two assignments so far both having come in the qualifying rounds of the Europa Conference League.
Last season, Bankes showed five red cards and 73 yellow cards in 26 matches across the Premier League, Sky Bet Championship, EFL Cup, and FA Cup.
Aston Villa 21/22

4 yellow cards - Fifth in Premier League
0 red cards - Joint-Fewest in Premier League
