Brentford have been drawn to play Forest Green Rovers in the Second Round of the Carabao Cup. It will be the first ever meeting between the teams. The tie will be played at our new stadium on the week of 24 August and full details will be released when confirmed.

Forest Green reached this stage with a dramatic win over Bristol City. They scored a stoppage time equaliser to earn a 2-2 draw last night. They then beat the team two divisions above them 6-5 in a penalty shoot-out to reach this stage.

This is Forest Green's fifth season as an EFL side. They won promotion in 2017 after climbing through the non-league pyramid. This is the third time in those five years that they have reached the Second Round of this competition. They have never made it past this stage.

Brentford, as a Premier League side, were given a bye in the First Round. The only other times The Bees entered in the Second Round were in 1960, when they were drawn a bye, and 1965, when only 38 teams were in the First Round.

Brentford will be looking to repeat the success of last year. The Bees beat four Premier League sides on their way to the Semi-Final. It was the first time Brentford had ever reached the last four of a major competition.

Brentford's run came to an end against Tottenham Hotspur. The Bees head beaten Southampton, West Brom, Fulham and Newcastle United to reach that stage. Tottenham then lost to Manchester City in the Final in April.
