Alex featured in this summer's opening two pre-season friendlies against AFC Wimbledon and Boreham Wood, playing 45 minutes in each game. With Neil MacFarlane’s Brentford B, Alex has played five times in pre-season, helping the side to wins over Cambridge United and Southend United.

B Team Technical Lead, Allan Steele, said: “Alex has been a fantastic addition to the B Team and everyone at the club wishes him well at Swindon. The step into league football is the natural progression for him after spending a large period of time within the First Team group last season and during this pre-season

“Alex has a fantastic character; he is extremely driven and motivated. We look forward to seeing him develop as part of Ben Garner’s team and hope he can help continue the strong start the club have had. The pathway for players at Brentford is one we are very proud of and there are a number of clubs who support our players during that period”

Alex joined Brentford B last September after coming through the ranks with hometown club West Bromwich Albion. While on trial at the end of the 2019/20 season, Alex scored twice in the final ever fixture at Griffin Park, Brentford B’s 6-3 win over Erith Town in the London Senior Cup Semi-Final.

Alex’s first full season in TW8 saw him score ten goals in 22 matches for the B Team. The attacking midfielder spent much of the second half of the campaign around Thomas Frank’s First Team group and was named in the matchday squad for nine Sky Bet Championship games between December and March.

January’s Emirates FA Cup Third Round tie against Middlesbrough saw Alex make his professional debut, playing 90 minutes of the 2-1 win. He also featured off the bench during the Fourth Round defeat to Premier League side Leicester City

At international level, Alex was capped by the Republic of Ireland at Under-19 level while with West Brom. Last March he won his maiden call up to the Under-21s for a match against Wales. He played the opening 69 minutes of the 2–1 victory before making three further international appearances over the summer.

Swindon Town have started strongly in Sky Bet League Two following last season’s relegation. Ben Garner’s side currently sit fourth, with ten points from their opening five matches. Alex’s first involvement for The Robins could come on Saturday as they head to Stevenage.
