Brentford extended their current run of form to one defeat in nine and ended a run of four consecutive draws with a 5-0 win away to Preston North End yesterday. Five goals, from five different players spread across the 90 minutes saw The Bees win for the first time since mid-March, after being held by Derby County, Nottingham Forest, Huddersfield Town and Birmingham City in recent weeks. It was Brentford's biggest away win of the campaign and the biggest in the Sky Bet Championship for any side and also our first ever 5-0 win in any league game away from home.

The win leaves Brentford's third in the Sky Bet Championship table with six games remaining. They have four of those six games at home and start with Millwall. The game was originally scheduled for 3pm next Saturday, 17 April, but the EFL announced yesterday it will shift due to a clash with the funeral of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

The Bees are nine points behind Watford, who sit second after beating Reading on Friday night. Watford only have five games to play with three of them away from home and travel to neighbours Luton Town next weekend. The defeat for Reading on Friday was compounded as every other team that started the weekend in the top seven won.

Norwich City still lead the way after beating Derby County and they now only need two more points to guarantee promotion to the Premier League. They face AFC Bournemouth, who are sixth, next weekend, but could be promoted before that if both Brentford and Swansea City, in fourth drop points. Swansea beat Millwall yesterday and are a point behind The Bees. They are ten points behind Watford with a game in hand and play that on Tuesday night when they visit Sheffield Wednesday. They then host Wycombe Wanderers next weekend. The other member of the top six is Barnsley, who are two points behind Brentford with five games to play and travel to Coventry City next Sunday.

Millwall's defeat to Swansea yesterday leaves them ninth in the table. They are ten points behind Bournemouth with five games left. They had won four out of five before that, including away victories at Stoke City and Derby. They have been good away from home, winning eight of 20 games, but their games have been low scoring, with only 43 goals.

The teams met on the third weekend of the season and shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. The Bees trailed to an early goal in South London but battled back to earn a share of the spoils as Ivan Toney scored his first Brentford goal from the penalty spot. The teams have been evenly matched over the years with The Bees having slighly the better in recent years. Both sides won their home games last season, with Brentford coming from 2-0 down to win theirs, and have won the last three in West London, with the two before that finishing all square.

The match will, unfortunately, be behind closed doors. It will, however, be available live on iFollow Brentford.
