Brentford will be looking to get back to winning ways when they return to action on Tuesday night. The Bees have lost just one of their last seve games but a 1-1 draw at Huddersfield Town yesterday was a third in a row. Brentford will be seeking the maximum points when Birmingham City come to West London on Tuesday night, 6 April, for a match that will kick-off at 7pm.

The match is a reverse of the first day of the season, played in early September due to the contracted nature of the campaign because of the Covid-19 outbreak. The Bees were beaten 1-0 on a sunny afternoon with Jérémie Bela getting the only goal. Brentford had the better of the chances and hit the woodwork twice but could not get the win.

The Bees have been second best against Birmingham in recent years, taking only three points from the last five meetings. An Ethan Pinnock header gave The Bees an away draw last year but they lost 1-0 at home, also on the opening day of the season. Both games in 2018/19 were drawn.

Birmingham are battling at the wrong end of the Sky Bet Championship table, currently sitting 20th. The beat Swansea City 1-0 on Friday evening thanks to a last gasp penalty from former Brentford striker Scott Hogan and also beat Reading in mid-March with a losss to Watford in between. They have one point from their last three away games but did win at Sheffield Wednesday, one of the teams below them, before that.

The win over Swansea had an impact at the other end of the table. Brentford's point yesterday enabled them to climb above the Welsh side in to third place but Watford were the team to profit most. Watford beat Sheffield Wednesday on Friday and were the only team in the top six to win. They are now nine points ahead of The Bees and Swansea, albeit they have played a game more than both and still have to play both. Norwich City still top the table, six points ahead of Watford. Barnsley and Reading drew 1-1 on Friday and sit fifth and sixth, four and six points behind The Bees respectively.

Most teams play tomorrow, Easter Monday, in this set of fixtures with Watford in action first, away to Middlesbrough at lunchtime. Reading and Swansea are at home, to Derby County and Preston North End, while Barnsley travel to Luton Town. Norwich host Huddersfield at the same time Brentford face Birmingham.

The match will, unfortunately, be behind closed doors. It will, however, be available live on iFollow Brentford.
