The shortest close season and pre-season after the longest season comes to an end on Sunday when Brentford resume competitive action. The Bees will begin the 2020/21 season with a Carabao Cup tie against Wycombe Wanderers. The First Round tie will be Brentford's first competitive game in their new home and will kick-off at 12noon.

The game comes only 33 days after Brentford ended the 2019/20 season. The Bees finished that campaign with a Play-Off Final defeat to Fulham at Wembley Stadium after finishing third in the Sky Bet Championship, their best finish since 1947. That was the last campaign at Griffin Park, Brentford's home since 1904 and The Bees will kick-off the new term in a new home.

The game against Wycombe will be Brentford's second in their new surroundings after a friendly draw with Oxford United this week but will be their first competitive match. They will kick off their Championship campaign away at Birmingham City next week and then face Huddersfield Town at home on Saturday 19 September. Both teams will be without players on international duty for Sunday's match.

Sunday's match will, unfortunately, be behind closed doors. It will, however, be available live on Sky Sports. As per the EFL communication on the broadcast arrangements for the new season, all Carabao Cup ties that are selected for live coverage by Sky Sports will only be available on that platform. Fans who do not have Sky Sports can access the game online via Now TV. Fans can pay for one-day access, which would also give them the ability to watch that day's international football, the Italian Grand Prix and much more. Alternatively there are longer passes available. See more here.
