Luka Racic enjoys dream competitive debut for Northampton Town

Check in with the action for our players away from Jersey Road

7 September 2020

Luka Racic's competitive debut for Northampton Town on Saturday could hardly have gone better as The Cobblers dumped Sky Bet Championship side Cardiff City out of the Carabao Cup following a 3-0 victory at Sixfields.

Luka started on the right of a back-three for Keith Curle's men. Harry Smith opened the scoring for the Sky Bet League One side from the penalty spot after 33 minutes. Two further goals at the start of the second-half from Matty Warburton and Ryan Watson decided matters and earned Town a Second Round trip to Bristol City.

There's more Cup action for Town tomorrow as they begin their EFL Trophy campaign with a trip to MK Dons.

Jaakko Oksanen missed AFC Wimbledon's penalty defeat to Oxford United as he's away on international duty with Finland's Under-21s. Following a 1-1 draw in normal time, Callum Reilly and Nesta Guinness-Walker missed from the spot as The Us progressed 4-3 on penalties at The Kassam Stadium. The Dons are not in EFL Trophy action this midweek so Jaakko's first League One outing could come against Luka and Northampton on Saturday.

In Turkey, Kasimpasa and Julian Jeanvier are not in action again until Sunday when they get their Super Lig campaign underway with a trip to Kayserispor.
