Brentford FC Community Sports Trust is in preparation for the official launch of the Show Racism the Red Card programme, alongside eight other European football community sports trusts and foundations. Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) is a 24-month anti-racism and anti-discrimination programme, which is based on the proven concept of the Red Card Campaign delivered in the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands. SRtRC utilises the high-profile status of football and football players to help tackle racism in society. The project aims to raise awareness of diversity, foster social cohesion, and reduce physical and verbal violence linked to racism.

The main objectives of Show Racism the Red Card are:

Throughout the first delivery of the programme, the Trust are working closely with five schools to deliver a five-week programme focused on educating and raising awareness about key diversity and inclusion topics. In addition, an online workshop across 25 classes from different schools will be delivered as a kick-off event for this delivery phase. Brentford player Sergi Canos played an important role in the official programme launch in October 2019, by promoting a positive message to our community.

Tomas Abreu, the Trust's Marketing and Commercial Manager - who leads on the project, said: "We are looking forward to launching our delivery phase across a wide number of different schools. This programme adds significant value to the current community work the Trust delivers and is a great opportunity to strengthen our current schools’ partnerships and provision. It brings a creative balance between promoting physical activity while educating and raising awareness about key diversity and inclusion topics, ultimately aiming to encourage more inclusive future generations.’’
