There was action last night for Joel Valencia in the UEFA Europa League as his side weren’t able to seal themselves a space in the Group Stage of the competition after a 3-0 defeat at home to Azerbaijan Premier League side, Qarabağ.
Joel played the full 90 minutes but second half goals from Patrick Andrade, Abdellah Zoubir and Filip Ozobic meant that Joel’s side would exit the competition.
With a full round of fixture across the continent set to get under way this weekend, Julian Jeanvier could feature for Kasımpaşa S.K. when they welcome Turkish giants Galatasaray. Julian’s side will be looking to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat to Hatayspor last time out and climb further than their 13th place in the table.
After making his Viborg FF debut recently, Patrik Gunnarsson will be hoping to feature in goal for the trip to Esbjerg. A strong start to the season for the Danish side sees them sit top of the Danish First Division with 13 points from their first five matches of the season, winning four of their first five fixtures. It looks set to be a close encounter with Esbjerg currently third in the table after a strong start themselves.
As for our players on loan in the Football League, Luka Racic’s Northampton Town will be looking to bounce back from their 2-0 home defeat to Hull City when they make the trip west to Bristol Rovers. The Cobblers have had a steady start to life back in Sky Bet League One as they sit in 10th position with four points from their first three matches. Luka will be aiming to grab more valuable minutes in the centre of defence for Keith Curle’s side.
Also, in Sky Bet League One, Jaakko Oksanen will be aiming to replicate a similar result to that of last week with his AFC Wimbledon teammates. The young midfielder made his first league start for The Dons as they battled to a 1-0 win over Fleetwood with Jaakko putting in an excellent display in front of the back four. Wimbledon host Accrington Stanley at home this Saturday and go into the game 8th in the league table after a solid start to the campaign with five points from three games, meaning they are unbeaten in the league so far.
In Sky Bet League Two Arthur Read’s Stevenage will welcome Salford City to The Lamex Stadium and Alex Revell’s men will be looking to get back to winning ways as they fell to a narrow defeat away at Bradford last time out. Arthur has been a regular in the midfield in recent weeks and he’ll be looking to gain more minutes when they come up against a Salford side who are strongly tipped to be battling towards the top of the division come the end of the season.
