Brentford FC has been informed of a fund-raising effort to get life-saving treatement for a supporter with a rare cancer. Jamie Powell, pictured right above, is 41 years old and lives his wife of seven years Carly and their two sons Jackson, aged nine and Frankie aged six. He is a plasterer by trade and works in the film industry at Shepperton Studios where he has been Head Plasterer on numerous film sets and TV shows.

Jamie is also a lifelong Brentford fan and Season Ticket Holder at our new stadium. He has rarely missed a game and has passed this passion onto his two boys who have been joining him on match days. He is pictured above at Griffin Park.

Jamie suffered a seizure whilst sleeping in June. He was hospitalised and after numerous tests and scans he was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (a rare and aggressive bone cancer) of the skull. He is currently at University College London Hospital undergoing a course of chemotherapy, but he has been informed that this won’t really do anything other than slow the cancer. Jamie would then be given Rapid Arc Photon Therapy which the radiologist have advised will not cure his cancer and only extend his life, maybe by a few years.

Massachusetts General Hospital have confirmed they will treat Jamie with Proton Beam Therapy, which will give him a better prognosis and may cure his cancer. His family are trying to raise £350,000 to get him to Boston, in the United States of America, for the treatment. They need to raise the money as soon as they can to give him the best chance.

Already almost £150,000 has been raised and Brentford fans have dug in to their pockets to help with former striker Ollie Watkins also donating. More on Jamie's story and how to donate can be seen here. The Club is looking at others ways to assist and top scorer Ivan Toney will be raffling a shirt to raise funds. See more below and keep an eye on our channels for ways to help.
