The young Bees are in a rich vein of form following four matches unbeaten, including wins over Hendon, Aldershot Town and Leicester City U23s. Last time out they drew 1-1 with National League side Maidenhead United at York Road.

The Bees will come up against a talented Chelsea side on Thursday, with their under-23 group currently competing in Premier League 2 Division One. Last time out they came up against Everton and were beaten 2-0 away from home. Prior to that they lost 3-1 to Liverpool before picking up wins over Arsenal and Derby County.

Neil Bath is head of Chelsea’s Youth Development and has worked his way up after working with the Chelsea Schoolboys staff in 1993. He has played a major role within the success of the Academy and its ability to lift a number of trophies at youth level.

With the match falling during the international break, Brentford B will be without Valgeir Valgeirsson and Joe Adams with both players away representing Iceland and Wales respectively at under-21 level.

Those movements could provide openings for more minutes for other members of the Brentford B squad with Lachlan Brook looking to gain more game time and step up his fitness following his debut against Maidenhead on Saturday where he played the final 30 minutes.

Brentford B last came up against a Chelsea youth side towards the end of last season when they travelled to Cobham and picked up a 2-0 win with the goals coming from Fredrik Hammar and Dru Yearwood back in February this year.
