Brentford B are in action today at midday away from home in a behind closed doors fixture against Chelsea U23s.
The young Bees are in a rich vein of form following four matches unbeaten, including wins over Hendon, Aldershot Town and Leicester City U23s. Last time out they drew 1-1 with National League side Maidenhead United at York Road.
The Bees will come up against a talented Chelsea side on Thursday, with their under-23 group currently competing in Premier League 2 Division One. Neil Bath is head of Chelsea’s Youth Development and has worked his way up after working with the Chelsea Schoolboys staff in 1993. He has played a major role within the success of the Academy and its ability to lift a number of trophies at youth level.
With the match falling during the international break, Brentford B will be without Valgeir Valgeirsson and Joe Adams with both players away representing Iceland and Wales respectively at under-21 level.
Those movements could provide openings for more minutes for other members of the Brentford B squad with Lachlan Brook looking to gain more game time and step up his fitness following his debut against Maidenhead on Saturday where he played the final 30 minutes.
Brentford B last came up against a Chelsea youth side towards the end of last season when they travelled to Cobham and picked up a 2-0 win with the goals coming from Fredrik Hammar and Dru Yearwood back in February this year.
We intend to provide a live stream of the fixture, going live around 10 minutes prior to kick-off, and we will also provide updates across social media as well as a match report following the game.
