Mads said: “We didn’t create a lot of chances but we still had a few chances. In the last 10 minutes we were a little bit sloppy. I think if we had a little bit of quality in the last third, we could have won the game. To be honest, I think we should have won but it’s not unfair that we had a draw.

“The only thing Middlesbrough wanted to do was put it up in the air and challenge for it, putting pressure on our goal, so yes it was quite physical out there today.

“We just controlled the game, they let me and Ethan Pinnock drive up with the ball. We just had to find a free man, they were quite passive and followed us. We kept the ball and they would try to counter, that’s how I saw it.

“It’s always good as a defender to keep a clean sheet, so I’m very pleased about that but we all want to win. Hopefully, we can win the next one.

“It’s been very good for me to play a lot of minutes. The programme is so compact, so we have to change the team sometimes, which is good for me. The players who have come in have done well, we have a strong squad. It’s important to trust each other. When there’s a new player coming in, it’s important that everyone helps them, I’ve felt that too. When I have come in, it’s easy to play because everyone is helpful on the pitch. It’s easy to step in.

“It was very helpful for me to play regularly in League One, it was very good for me to get experience. It was really good and helped prepare me for the season.

“For all the players now, December is so compact, everything we need to do involves resting and recovering well. We need to be ready for the next game.”
