The midweek game saw Luka Racic’s Northampton Town come up against Arthur Read’s Stevenage at The PTS Academy Stadium in the Papa John’s Trophy. Luka wasn’t involved on the night and Arthur came on with five minutes to play as the match went to a penalty shootout following a 0-0 draw.

It would be Keith Curle’s men who would progress in the competition as they came out on top in the shootout. Town will now be looking to gain some Sky Bet League One momentum when they make the trip to Burton Albion this weekend, whilst Arthur and his Stevenage teammates face Bolton Wanderers at The Lamex Stadium in Sky Bet League Two.

There was no midweek action for Shrewsbury Town and Jan Žambůrek, with their last match coming in a 3-3 daw against Swindon last weekend. They face a tough trip to Ipswich Town this weekend- the Portman Road side are currently third in the division- whilst Shrewsbury are 22nd.

AFC Wimbledon are also set to return to league action following their enforced self-isolation period following a number of positive Covid-19 cases. Jaakko Oksanen won’t feature in the game against Rochdale after picking up an injury recently.

This weekend the East London side will make the trip to Sheffield United who are currently bottom of the table, whilst David Moyes’ side are 12th and will be looking to climb further up the table if they can take all three points away from Bramall Lane.

On foreign soils, Halil Dervişoğlu will be looking to take his fantastic scoring form for Turkey’s Under-21s, where he netted four times, into the Eredivisie match with PSV Eindhoven on Sunday. Twente are currently fifth in the table whilst PSV sit in third place and Halil will be pushing for more game time in Holland.

Patrik Gunnarsson will be looking to pick up where he left off with Viborg FF before the international break with his side top of the Danish First Division. The side are currently three points clear at the top of the table ahead of Friday night’s home fixture with Hobro.

There could also be action for Joel Valencia this weekend as his Legia Warsaw side make the trip to Cracovia. Legia, who have had a positive start to the campaign, are currently second in the table with their opponents in 11th. Legia are just one point off of top spot in the Ekstraklasa.

Julian Jeanvier’s Kasımpaşa S.K. will travel to Konyaspor in Turkey but the central defender will not play a part in the game due to injury.
