When Marcus Forss fired Finland in front at the Stade de France last week, he joined a very select club. The Brentford striker scored on his international debut as Finland beat the 2018 World Cup winners on their own turf, eventually winning the game 2-0. It was Marcus’ first taste of full international football and he will be looking to build on that impressive start when Finland face Bulgaria tonight.

Marcus was the 46th player to earn international full international recognition while on Brentford’s books. Nine of those players are still on the Clubs books, including Henrik Dalsgaard, who holds the record for the most caps while a Brentford player. His 22 caps while a Bee beat the old record held by John Buttigieg, of Malta, and Henrik can extend that.

But Marcus may be eyeing a different record. On Wednesday night he became only the tenth man to score an international goal while a Brentford player. Two more of those players – Henrik and Tariqe Fosu, who plays for Ghana – are still with The Bees. They have both scored one goal and the current record is the two scored by Idris Hopkins in the 1930s.

Dai, as he was better known, is one of Brentford’s legends. Part of the great team of the 1930s that could have won the First Division title, Dai played almost 300 league games for The Bees and won 12 caps for Wales. He is a member of the Club’s Hall of Fame and his 80 goals for The Bees is bettered by only nine men. Dai scored two international goals and scored one more in nine Wartime internationals that do not count for official records.

Marcus, Tariqe and Henrik all have the chance to rewrite Brentford history in the coming days if they can get more international goals. Mathias Jensen, away with Denmark, also has that chance, while players including Saman Ghoddos, of Iran, Pontus Jansson, of Sweden, and Christian Nørgaard, also of Denmark, are not away this week but could have the chance later this season. Saïd Benrahma, of Algeria, and Julian Jeanvier, of Guinea, are also still registered for The Bees and could make their mark.
