Brentford's recruitment of players has been of interest to the media for many years and was the subject of an interview last week. Rasmus Ankersen, Brentford FC Co-Director of Football, and Lee Dykes, the Club's Recruitment Director, spoke to Sky Sports News. The interviews surrounded the recruitment of Ivan Toney, who had just been named Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month for October, as well as a wider discussion.

Rasmus and Lee spoke to James Cooper from Sky Sports News and those interviews have been turned in to a written piece. The pair outlined the way the Club aimed to secure Ivan's signature early in the Transfer Window on the basis that Ollie Watkins, Brentford's top scorer last season, was expected to leave. Ollie joined Aston Villa a few days after Ivan arrived.

There was a discussion about how Ivan was identified and why the Club was willing to pay a high transfer fee in order to have a player more likely to be ready for the Championship immediately. Ivan scored ten goals for The Bees in his first ten games in the Championship. Eight of those goals came in six matches and earned him the monthly award.

Lee spoke a little about his role and the need to identify players early. He also described continuing to find players through a wide scouting network as a challenge he and his team relished. The full piece can be seen here.
